Broken Dreams Submitted to Austin Film Festival – Again

Last year we submitted the Broken Dreams screenplay to the Austin Film Festival. Although the script had good success at other festivals, winning several, the script was not selected for the Austin festival – one of the majors.

For filming purposes, a rewrite for Broken Dreams was recently done. With the filming of Broken Dreams pushed back so Swamp Witch could be filmed next year, it become possible to submit to a few other festivals for next year. So today the Broken Dreams rewrite was submitted to the Austin Film Festival. Hopefully the second time is the charm.

The Austin Film Festival – to be held on October 22 – 29, 2020.

Check out the Broken Dreams website.

Film Festival Trifecta

Yesterday was quite a day for Copper Pen Pictures. We were notified that our short film, The Exit Bag, was selected for the 2019 Fort Worth Indie Film Showcase. This will be Exit Bag’s first film festival.

It will also be a first for our screenplay, Swamp Witch, which was selected for that festival’s screenplay competition.

And to complete the trifecta, Broken Dreams was also selected for the screenplay competition.

This will be the first of three chances that Swamp Witch will have to go head-to-head with Broken Dreams. It will be interesting to see how they do. It all depends on what the judges are looking for. I feel that the writing is stronger in Swamp Witch, but story is better with Broken Dreams.

The 2019 Fort Worth Indie Film Showcase will be held at the Garden Hilton in the Fossil Creek section of Fort Worth on July 25-27.
